Last updated 27 September 2026
gameson.sale tracks game prices across stores and regions. This page covers the website and the gameson.sale app in ChatGPT. gameson.sale is run by Adam Finzel (“we”), who is responsible for your data. In short: browsing needs no account, we collect as little as we can, and we don't sell or share your data for advertising.
Browsing without an account
Game and price pages are public, so you don't need to sign in. When you browse:
- We read the country from your connection (provided by our CDN, Cloudflare) to choose which currency to show. We use it at that moment and never store it with anything that identifies you.
- When you click a Buy link we count the click, but not you. We record the day, the game, the store, your country, the currency shown and your device type (mobile, tablet or desktop). We don't record your IP address, browser details or account.
- To limit abuse, we key rate limits to your IP address for a short time. Those entries expire automatically.
If you create an account
We store:
- your email address and display name, and a salted hash of your password (never the password itself). If you sign in with Google or Steam, we store that service's account identifier (for Steam, your public SteamID) instead of, or as well as, a password;
- your preferred currency, if you set one;
- what you choose to save or post: favourite games, price alerts, comments, questions, answers and broken-link reports.
We send email only to verify your address, reset your password and deliver price alerts you set. Every alert email has a one-click link to stop it.
The gameson.sale app in ChatGPT and other AI assistants
ChatGPT and other AI assistants can look up games and prices through our MCP server at gameson.sale/mcp. When you ask one a question it passes on, the assistant's servers send us only what the lookup needs, such as a game title, platform, currency or price limit. We don't receive your conversation, your name or your account with that assistant.
- We use those details to answer and then discard them. We never store what was asked about.
- We count calls, but not people: one daily total per tool, per result (found, found nothing, or failed), and per assistant name (such as
chatgpt) that the assistant gives itself. - Buy links in our answers go through our redirect, so a click from one is counted as described above, labelled with the assistant that handed it out.
- The app is read-only and has no sign-in. It can't see or change a gameson.sale account, and it doesn't use one.
The same tools are offered to AI agents working in your browser on our pages, and the same rules apply there. The assistant's provider handles your chats under its own privacy policy. For ChatGPT, that's OpenAI's privacy policy.
Cookies
We use only cookies the site needs to work. None are for advertising or tracking:
- a session cookie that keeps you signed in;
gs_out, which is set when you click a Buy link and shows the redirect that a person clicked it, not a bot.
If you pick a currency, we remember it as gos_region in your browser's local storage. It stays on your device and is never sent to us.
Who else handles data
- Cloudflare, which delivers the site;
- Amazon Web Services (SES), which sends our email;
- Google, only if you choose Google sign-in;
- Valve (Steam), only if you choose Steam sign-in: Steam confirms who you are, and we read your public Steam display name to start yours;
- our hosting and error-monitoring providers, which process requests so we can run the site and fix it.
Stores you go to from a Buy link have their own policies. Some links carry an affiliate tag, so the store knows the click came from us. That tag doesn't identify you to us.
How long we keep it
We keep account data until 30 days after you delete your account. Password-reset and email-verification links expire after use or shortly after they're sent. Click counts contain no personal data, so we keep them.
Your rights
You can delete your account yourself at any time, on your account page. It's switched off straight away: you're signed out, alerts stop, and your comments and name are hidden. 30 days later we delete it permanently, with your favourites, alerts, comments and votes. Until then, the link we email you restores it. Questions, answers and reports you posted stay on the site but are no longer linked to you.
For a copy of your data or to correct it, email [email protected] from the address on your account and we'll handle it within 30 days. If you're in the UK or EU, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects your account, we'll email you before it takes effect.
