Play it if the equipment interests you as much as the harvest; repetition is the attraction and the dealbreaker. The 2017 Platinum Edition is the sensible starting point, pairing the base game with the Platinum expansion’s South American farm and sugarcane. That gives the routine a distinctive setting, but it doesn't turn fieldwork into something other than fieldwork.
Play it if
You recognise tractor brands, want to try oversized agricultural equipment, or enjoy repeating a practical task until the repetition itself becomes satisfying.
Skip it if
You stop enjoying a game as soon as its central task repeats. If harvesting another field sounds like an obligation rather than the reward, a different tractor won't fix that.

- The 2017 Platinum Edition bundles Farming Simulator 17 with the Platinum expansion. The expansion adds a South American farm, sugarcane, local zebu cattle, and additional vehicles and tools.

- The 2017 Platinum expansion introduces sugarcane as a crop and the Case IH A8800 MR sugarcane harvester. It's a reason to choose the expansion if trying different agricultural equipment is your main interest.
- Is the Big Bud tractor part of the base game?
- No: the Big Bud 747 arrived in the separate 2017 Big Bud Pack. That pack adds two Big Bud tractors and twelve oversized pieces of farm equipment.
