Has it aged?Why ↓
Dead by Daylight is online multiplayer horror in The Fog: you play a survivor cooperating against a supernatural killer, or the hunter sacrificing survivors to the Entity. The compelling part isn't recognising the monster from a film; it's knowing another player is deciding whom to hunt.
10 years of horror. 10 years of jump scares and close calls. 10 years of brutal sacrifices and thrilling escapes. Trapped forever in a realm of eldritch evil where even death is not an escape, four determined Survivors face a bloodthirsty Killer in a vicious game of nerve and wits.

What it looks like
the trailer, then the store's own shotsThe verdict
Play it for horror built around an opposing human, not just a parade of familiar villains. Choosing between surviving together and hunting other players gives that premise teeth. Its ageing visuals are the weaker draw: the visual overhaul announced in 2026 is a promise, not a reason to overlook them. Cross-platform play and a record Steam player count in 2026 make this an unusually well-supported older multiplayer game.
Play it if
You want to cooperate with other survivors while a human opponent hunts you, or you'd rather be the monster and choose your victims. Recognising Jason Voorhees is a bonus; wanting to play against people is the important part.
Skip it if
Anyone who wants horror without competitive multiplayer. If another person trying to beat you breaks the atmosphere rather than intensifying it, neither surviving nor playing the killer solves that problem.
