Has it aged?Why ↓
Euro Truck Simulator 2 is a driving simulator about hauling cargo between European cities from a lorry cab. You spend hours covering long distances, and that is precisely its appeal: getting somewhere is the reward, rather than the boring bit before something happens.
Travel across Europe as king of the road, a trucker who delivers important cargo across impressive distances! With dozens of cities to explore, your endurance, skill and speed will all be pushed to their limits.

The verdict
Play it for the pleasure of driving with a purpose, whether or not you care about lorries. Jobs in loaned trucks lead towards owning a truck and running a business, giving each delivery a reason beyond admiring the scenery. That is enough ambition for this particular escape: a destination to reach, something to earn, and permission to enjoy the miles between them.
Play it if
You like a long drive with a podcast, enjoy saving towards equipment of your own, or would happily spend an evening hauling cargo in a convoy with friends.
Skip it if
You need overtaking to be a competition or every journey to deliver a dramatic surprise. If hours of driving cargo between cities sound like the part you would skip, there is no reason to make yourself do them.
Common questions
- Do I have to own a lorry before taking deliveries?
- No. You begin with jobs in loaned trucks, earn money towards your own lorry, and gain experience that unlocks further missions; you can also establish your own business.
- How many friends can join a convoy?
- The multiplayer convoy mode supports up to eight players. It turns the same trucking routine into a shared drive rather than requiring everyone to haul alone.
- Is the UK map getting a rebuild?
- A UK revamp was announced in 2025. The older UK scenery is a reason to temper expectations of a convincing British road trip; the announcement should not be mistaken for confirmation that the rebuild is finished.
- Which expansion lets me drive into Turkey?
- The 2019 Road to the Black Sea expansion reaches Istanbul and Turkey's European-facing tip. Soul of Anatolia, announced in 2026, is planned to extend the map to Ankara and Aksaray; its announcement gave no release date.
