Remember Me
2013 · DON'T NOD
Has it aged?Why ↓
Remember Me is a third-person sci-fi action game whose best weapon isn't a fist. As memory hunter Nilin in futuristic Neo-Paris, you climb prescribed routes, fight guards and memory addicts with custom combos, and occasionally rewind someone's recollection to change what they believe happened. Those rare intrusions are more unsettling than the violence.
Remember Me™ is a 3rd person action adventure where players take on the role of Nilin, a former elite memory hunter with the ability to break into people’s minds and steal or even alter their memories.

The verdict
Play it for Neo-Paris and the memory remixes, not for a great brawler. The city's advertising, architecture and gulf between wealthy streets and ruined slums have aged better than the repetitive arena fights. Making someone believe a different version of their own life gives Nilin's powers a nastiness that punching guards cannot match. There's enough here to justify the climbing and combat, but the game spends too little time on its strongest idea.
Play it if
You stop to read fictional advertisements and inspect shop windows. You find a hero who tampers with someone's recollection more interesting than one who merely defeats them, and you're happy to follow a set route through a carefully imagined city.
Skip it if
You need free exploration or control over the story's direction. Both routes and plot are fixed, and most of the action is repeated fighting rather than memory manipulation.
Common questions
- Do Nilin's memory remixes actually change the past?
- No: they change what someone remembers, which changes how that person behaves. You rewind and replay a scene, altering details until their recollection reaches the required outcome; the physical events remain unchanged.
- What can I change in Nilin's combat combos?
- You assemble combinations from moves that deal damage, restore health or reduce special-move cooldowns. You can rearrange them to suit an encounter, but landing the sequence still depends on timed button presses.
- Can I replay Remember Me with my unlocked combos?
- Yes. Finishing the game lets you restart with your unlocked combos, although earning further experience requires chaining longer combinations.
